Calendar Change: No School for Students on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 We are going to adjust the calendar for Wednesday, November 25th ~ There will be No School for our students, but the staff will report for PD/a teacher work day. High school basketball and wrestling practices will still be held. In order to provide added support for our students, we are inviting and encouraging all students who have been absent due to COVID-19 or who need additional help with school work, to come to school between 7:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to work individually with classroom teachers. The Nebraska Commissioner of Education has implemented instructional time flexibilities during the 2020-2021 school year to allow districts to provide professional development for our teachers. Due to COVID-19 isolation and quarantine measures, teachers are required to teach both in person and online and we need to provide them with more time to plan, prepare and learn how to best serve each student. We appreciate your support and open communication. We are working hard to provide the highest quality education for each student, while keeping students and staff safe. If you have any questions, please contact me at lbeaudette@ehpirates.org. Thank you, Lindsey Beaudette, Superintendent

Senior Parents, The FAFSA opened October 1st. You can go online at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. You will need to create a FAFSA ID for yourself and your student. We encourage all seniors to fill this out; you will need your 2019 tax information and your students if they filed in 2019. College Visits-Please speak to your students about setting up a college visit. I strongly encourage you to attend one even for the colleges you know about. The college visits provide lots of information for both student and parents who attend. You can go online to the college of your choices website to set up visits. Students can show Mrs. Ahlers their conformation emails and discuss the absence. Your students should start applying to colleges now!

We are so excited to welcome back our students on Thursday for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We have updated our re-opening plan and it can be found under the documents section of our school website and on our app. New Item: Masks, shields, or face coverings will be required for students and staff when we are unable to maintain social distancing. (Masks will be provided by the district or you may bring your own face covering from home). By requiring a mask when we are unable to social distance, we will be able to keep more of our students in our buildings if a positive case of COVID-19 is found in the district. In Preschool we talk about germs 🦠 🦠 🦠 constantly! Monday and Tuesday we spent extra time explaining how germs spread. On Monday We did a fun pepper (germs) and water activity by dipping a finger into water that had pepper in it- and all of the pepper (germs) stuck to their finger. When they put soap on their finger and stuck it back in the pepper water no “germs” stuck to their finger anymore. On Tuesday our clinical friend, Travis, taught us a lesson on germs with glitter and lotion. Each student had their own color of glitter put on their hands. After shaking hands or giving a high five to each friend- they now had ALL the colors of glitter on them. They were amazed and hopefully understand all this germ stuff that you can’t actually see! 🦠 🦠 🦠
