It was finally a more appropriate day for track and field and the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack took advantage of the weather to do just that.

The girls’ team posted a runner-up finish in the meet posting several new season bests.

Bre Millard posted a season best in the 300 hurdles and 400, while Kiya Tornez improved in the 100 and 200. The girls’ 4x100 relay hit a time of 52.37.

On the boys’ side, sophomore Devin Reinert made the most impressive improvement with lowering his 200 time and improving his long jump by nearly one full foot.

14 of the 15 girls on the team earned medals on the day, while 11 of the 12 boys on the team earned medals.  Most impressive is the fact that there are only two seniors in the entire group of 28 athletes.  That means that future competitions will become even more interesting.

Next action for the Wolfpack will be Saturday, at Ponca, for the Lewis & Clark Conference Meet.  Field events will begin at 9:30 and running at 1:00.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“Both the boys and the girl teams had good days today.  The athletes made some very impressive efforts, better personal best and relay times.  They continue to be ‘work in progress’.  Hopefully, they will continue to compete and challenge themselves to go further.  The coaching staff was pleased with the efforts.  Good Job Teams!”
