The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack track squads had highly successful days at the Hartington-Newcastle Invite on Wednesday, April 8th. Although windy, some very good performances were turned in by the teams.
Leading the Lady Wolfpack were Joslyn Mackling and Kiya Tornez. Mackling broke her own cooperative record in the high jump winning with a leap of 5’3”. Mackling then added gold in the 300 hurdles and a leg on the victorious 4X100 relay. She added a fourth medal collecting a silver in the 100 hurdles. Tornez won the 200 and ran a leg on the 4X100, while adding two silver medals in the 100 and the long jump. Senior, Rachael Bousquet added gold in the 4X100 relay as well as placing third in the 200, fourth in the 400 and fifth in the 100.
The boys had a productive day with several members. Senior, Thatcher Lamp coming off injury placed second in the 110 and 300 hurdles and added a third-place medal in the high jump. Tucker Anderson collected three medals on the day as well in the long jump and two relays.
The teams will compete next Tuesday, April 14th at the Trojan Invite in Hartington and the Homer Invite on Thursday, April 16th.
COACHES COMMENTS:
“The teams continue to improve and compete at a higher level each time they have stepped on the runway, ring and track. We have done some nice things so far, and the expectations should continue to climb. The girls’ team had an outstanding day as they flirted with a runner-up finish but exceeded expectations. The boys fifth place finish was also very pleasing to see. It’s back at work next week. It will be a challenging and competitive week, but the squads will be ready. Great Job Teams!”
