cross country

In their very first run ever as a cross country team, Tri County Northeast made a good accounting for themselves.

Teams from Bancroft-Rosalie, Bishop Neumann, Boys Town, GACC, Logan View, Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Malcom, Oakland-Craig Omaha Roncalli, Schuyler, and West Point-Beemer joined the Wolfpack making the field.

In the girl’s race, junior, Rhyanne Mackling, put together a solid performance winning a fourth-place medal in the 73-girl field.  Freshman, Alejandra Hermosillo posted a time of 25:38, good enough for an 18th place finish, just short of winning a top 15 medal.  Sophomore, Bre Millard placed 35th in the field with a 28:24 mark.

The Wolfpack did not get counted in the team scoring due to the lack of four runners but would have done well.

Next week, the Wolfpack girls’ team will be at full strength, as freshmen Jenni Olson and junior Shantel Miller will also be on the course.

Gabe Franklin, the lone Wolfpack boy runner posted a time of 26:40 in a field of 93.

Next action for the Pack will be on Thursday, September 1st at the Indian Hills Golf Course at Beemer for the Wisner-Pilger Invite.  24 schools will be participating, and the competition will be keen.

Coaches Comments:

“We were really pleased with the performances.  The kids competed very well.  The team has only been at this for three weeks, and we already are seeing improvement and potential from these kids.  Our kids are slowly but progressively getting better each day.   The plan at this point is to continue the course of improvement and be very competitive by season’s end.  Good Job athletes!”
