The Tri County Northeast Wolfpack cross country team made huge progress and gave very good efforts individually at the Wayne Invitational on Monday at the Wayne Country Club.

Every member of the team, hit season bests, and some were shattering performances.

Leading the team and medaling in 7th place was Rhyanne Mackling.  The junior cut ten seconds off her prior best, registering a 23:26.47 time.  Alejandra Hermosillo grabbed a 15th place medal, logging a time of 25:01.50.  Alejandra’s prior best was 25:38.58.

Just missing a medal was sophomore, Bre Millard, coming in at 16th.  Millard’s time was 25:24.76, three full minutes off her prior best time this fall.

Shantel Miller and Jenni Olson both ran very well as Miller recorded a time of 28:54.45, bettering her best of 31:44.47.  Olson was clocked in 29:55.27, which also bettered her mark earlier this fall of 31:29.88.

Gabe Franklin, the lone boy on the Wolfpack squad, cut his best time down to 25:30.20, from 26:40.

The girl’s team finished third in the team standings behind Wayne and Hartington-Newcastle.

Next up for the Wolfpack runners will be the Pender Invitational on Thursday, September 15th at the Twin Creeks Golf Course at Pender.  Start time is tentatively set for 4:30.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“The coaches were very, very, pleased with the efforts our team gave today.  This was a very strong field of runners today.  Every single runner improved times, and some were exceptional.  We are a work in progress, but are starting to gain traction each day, and by year’s end, hope to be very competitive at the district meet.  Great Job Team!”
